What can we do to change the environment in Connecticut for public access to AEDs?  Individually not much, but if we work together, generate enough public interest and support, anything.

HERE IS HOW YOU CAN HELP PASS EFFECTIVE AED LEGISLATION IN CONNECTICUT:

1. The 2009 Connecticut Legislative Session will be ending June 3, 2009.

Two AED bills are currently on the Senate floor:  Senate Bill 981, THE AEDs IN SCHOOLS BILL, and Senate Bill 1089, the Good Samaritan immunity protections bill.  We are asking you, your family and friends to email or contact your state senators and representatives as well as Gov. Rell to support these important bills.  Your emails and conversations matter to our legislators, as many of you have experienced.  As parents who lost their only child, Larry, to a Sudden Cardiac Arrest where no AED was available, we clearly see the value of these life-saving devices and fully support AED legislation.

Keep your emails short, simple and to the point.  Always be courteous.  Please send a separate email for each bill.

Governor Rell's email is governor.rell@ct.gov.

2. The American Heart Association has an application  "You're the cure" which can be accessed with the link below. You must sign up, but then may use "You're the cure" to "Take Action" and contact your legislators about legislation important to you.

3. We are creating an Email Distribution list so that we can quickly communicate with those willing to support AED Legislation.  Whenever we hear of a legislative issue that deserves support, we will contact those on the list to take action and contact their legislators.

You may sign up for our email distribution via the link:
